Presentation slides (30% of final grade) as well as term paper (70% of final grade). In order to pass the course as a whole, you have to complete both academic achievements (presentation slides and term paper). For the individual deadlines, please consult the respective Moodle room.

Students are able to understand and explain current trends in the field of media and communication studies.

content

This course provides an overview of current topics in media and communication studies and the involved research methods. The focus rests on research at the Institute of Media and Communication Science (IfMK). Scholars from the various groups of the IfMK will present current research topics and emerging trends in the field. Furthermore, the research modules that will start in the current semester will be introduced.

Later in the semester, students will give an oral presentation of a specific trend in media and communication studies. The selection of the trend is based on proposals provided by the institute’s groups. The students will present the results at the end of the term and summarize them in a term paper.
