TU Ilmenau has awarded German scholarships to 31 particularly talented and committed students in the academic year 2020/21. The scholarships were presented on behalf of the sponsors by Prof. Anja Geigenmüller, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at TU Ilmenau, on 19 November 2020.

For the academic year 2020/21, 13 companies, foundations, associations and private individuals made it possible to award scholarships to the 31 students. The sponsors come from Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia and Texas. Among them are the companies Robert Bosch Fahrzeugelektrik Eisenach GmbH and ams Sensor Germany GmbH, both of which are sponsors for the tenth time. Prof. Anja Geigenmüller is pleased with the commitment of the sponsors:

In this way, they strengthen the development and self-development of talent, interests and ambitions of young people, regardless of their initial financial situation. The scholarship sponsors encourage students to follow their path, and in doing so they assume responsibility for our society.

390 Deutschlandstipendien awarded so far

Since the beginning of the federal programme in 2011, the TU Ilmenau has already been supporting students whose careers indicate outstanding achievements in their studies and careers with a Germany Scholarship in the amount of 300 euros per month for one year. Half of the funding comes from the voluntary sponsors, the other half from the federal government. A total of 390 Deutschlandstipendien have been awarded to students at the TU Ilmenau over the past ten years. Prof. Anja Geigenmüller sees education as a task for society as a whole:

Funding such as the Germany Scholarships makes it possible to support bright minds on their educational path and thus ensure the future viability of the region, even beyond the borders of Thuringia.
