Prize for Intercultural Engagement of the City and the TU Ilmenau

The prize for intercultural commitment of the city of Ilmenau and the International Office of the TU Ilmenau, which is endowed with 500 euros, honours persons who have rendered outstanding services to the integration and support of foreign citizens.

Dr. Daniel Schultheiß, Mayor of Ilmenau (right), presented the 2020 award to student Alina Valitova (left). Born in Russia, she has been studying in Ilmenau since 2013, fulfilling her dream of becoming an engineer in Germany. After completing a bachelor's degree in materials science, she switched to the corresponding master's program in 2020. At the same time, the intercultural spirit has also always been an indispensable part of her life and studies. Alina Valitova started her involvement in the bc-Studentenclub e. V. Furthermore, as a StuRa member, she supported the Social Affairs and Finance departments and headed the Culture department for one year. Since 2014, she has also been the contact person in the double master's program with the National Research University Moscow Energetic Institute MEI. Privately, she also supports the foundation "Change One Life" in Moscow, which helps children in children's homes to find a family.
