The TU Ilmenau and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen are intensifying their cooperation. With the cooperation agreement, the TU Ilmenau and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen also want to meet the new challenges posed by the increasing internationalization of the university. Over 34 percent of all students at TU Ilmenau are not from Germany - a trend that has been rising for years, even during the Corona pandemic. The TU Ilmenau and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen therefore consider it their task to create a study and learning environment that offers students equal opportunities regardless of their origin and culture. The cooperation agreement sets out the framework conditions that are intended to help achieve this goal. It also sets out the conditions for better working conditions.

Family-friendly conditions in childcare

For example, the TU Ilmenau and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen have agreed to implement family-friendly conditions in childcare. To this end, special attention is to be paid to places for babies up to one year of age at the "Studentenflöhe" daycare center, since places for this age group are most in demand. When caring for foreign children as well, care should be taken to ensure that appropriately qualified personnel are available. This also applies to the Campus Family Office, which offers counseling and events for parents.

Health-promoting framework conditions

The working and study conditions at the TU Ilmenau are to be made more health-friendly in the future. Both the employees of the TU Ilmenau and the Studierendenwerk Thüringen as well as the students are encouraged to participate in health-promoting measures. Psychosocial counseling, social counseling and the provision of legal counseling offered by the Studierendenwerk Thüringen are to be strengthened.

Part of the agreement is also the joint work in case of conflicts, crises or threats from inside or outside.
