"Some have found their dream job by their sixth semester"

Isabel, Maik and Natalie are studying Biotechnical Chemistry in their fourth semester. The aim of the interdisciplinary study program is to provide students with specialist knowledge and key skills in modern chemistry with a focus on chemical applications in systems development and biotechnology, and to guide them to work independently using scientific methods. In this regard, TU Ilmenau is the only university nationwide to offer this combination of chemistry, biology and engineering sciences since 2013. "But the practical courses, meaning both their scope and the type of syntheses we can carry out in the laboratory, also make our study program special," explains student Maik Seemann. UNIonline accompanied Maik and his fellow students for a day during their lab practical.
