From a focus to a joint research center

Media Entrepreneurship is a research field that lies between interdisciplinary Entrepeneurship research, media management research and media/communication studies. "Media Entrepreneurship" has been a research focus at the Department of Media and Communication Management for several years. As part of the funding line, particular attention was paid to the consortium of participating partners. As an experienced partner in the circle of proven institutions and individuals in the field of media entrepreneurship, we are pleased to be able to work together on an international scientific basis," says Prof. Will. Over a period of 36 months, starting in 2021, the partners will jointly advance a research center for Screen Media Entrepreneurship and develop formats for excellent teaching and the promotion of young researchers in the field. Publication activities at international conferences and in journals are planned. Dr. Britta M. Gossel will be in charge of the project at TU Ilmenau: "We are very much looking forward to the upcoming cooperation, which also represents a continuation of scientific international collaborations already started in the past years."

Project manager with experience in cooperation

The team at TU Ilmenau already knows some of the partners from previous successful collaborations. Dr. Britta M. Gossel completed research stays at the MMTC Media Management Transformation Centre with Prof. Leona Achtenhagen (Jönköping International Business School, Sweden), at the Tallinn Institute for Future Studies with Prof. Erek Terk (Tallinn University, Estonia) and at the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence with Dr. Helen McGuirk (Munster Technological University, Ireland). In Ireland, she conducted research under the Hans Weisser Scholarship, which she was awarded in 2018. She also teaches Media Entrepreneurship at Masters level at the Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture (Tallinn University, Estonia).
