International Conference: Prof. Martin Haardt elected General Chair

Prof. Martin Haardt, Head of the Communications Engineering Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, has been elected General Chair of the "55th Annual Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers" by the "Asilomar Conference Steering Committee".

The "Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers" is a presentation platform for innovative work in various areas of theoretical and applied signal processing. In 2021 it will take place from 31 October to 03 November. The main topics are Architecture and Implementation, Array Signal Processing, Biomedical Signal and Image Processing, Communication Systems, MIMO Communication and Signal Processing, Networks, Signal Processing and Adaptive Systems, and Speech, Image & Video Processing. It is held annually at the Asilomar site in Pacific Grove, CA, USA. The IEEE Signal Processing Society, as the world's leading association for signal processing specialists, is a technical co-sponsor of the conference.

The appointment of Professor Haardt as General Chair of this year's conference confirms the international reputation of the head of the Ilmenau Communications Engineering Group and his high standing in the IEEE Signal Processing Society. In recognition of his scientific achievements, Prof. Haardt has already been awarded the highest degree of IEEE membership, the IEEE Fellow, in 2018. As General Chair of the "55-th Annual Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers", he is responsible for the organization and execution of the conference and appoints the Plenary Speakers.
