From Cologne to Ilmenau for drone flights, video editing, and studio work: Aurele made a conscious decision to do his student internship at the Media Lab at Technische Universität Ilmenau – inspired by his passion for film and drone flights and a suggestion from his grandfather, who himself studied Mechanical Engineering in Ilmenau and worked as a researcher there.
The 14-year-old student with a drone license was particularly impressed by the large studio with its green screen and professional equipment. In addition to flying drones, he also worked on a video about crane operations at the Grace Hopper construction site – including editing and sound.
When asked what he enjoyed most, his answer was clear: “Flying drones and editing videos creatively.” At the same time, Aurele also learned how important the right settings are for image and sound quality. His conclusion:
I had a lot of creative freedom in an open-minded team and gained real insights into media technology.
He already has plans for the future:
I could very well imagine studying here because I’d like to learn more about the technology behind film and advertising productions.
