First student receives Entrepreneurial Skills certificate from Ilmkubator start-up service

In the Entrepreneurial Skills certificate, students and employees of TU Ilmenau have the opportunity to attend courses related to entrepreneurship. Student Tino Leandro Albrecht was the first to receive this since its introduction in the winter semester 2022/23.

TU Ilmenau/Eleonora Hamburg
Dr. Dörte Gerhardt, Head of the Division of Research Service and Technology Transfer (FuT), and Prof. Jens Müller, Vice President for International Affairs and Transfer, congratulated Tino Leandro Albrecht.

Creativity, analytical thinking or the ability to find solutions - Tino Leandro Albrecht, a student of Applied Media and Communication Studies, needs these and many other skills if he is to work in the media industry after graduation.

Since his first semester, the student has therefore been taking advantage of the services offered by the Ilmkubator Start-up service and the Central Institute for Education (ZIB) at TU Ilmenau, taking courses such as project management, communication skills and problem-solving techniques in addition to his studies. In an Entrepreneurial Skills certificate, his participation in courses related to entrepreneurship is now certified. Tino is the first student at the university to receive the certificate.

Since the winter semester 2022/23, students and employees of TU Ilmenau have the opportunity to acquire the Entrepreneurial Skills certificate. They can freely choose from the courses offered by the Ilmkubator Gründungsservice and the ZIB, but also from the courses offered by the faculties of the university. In addition, external courses that thematically fit the certificate can also be credited. A total of ten credit points must be earned in order to receive the Entrepreneurial Skills certificate. In addition, courses can also be credited at a later date.

Dr. Dörte Gerhardt, head of the Division of Research Service and Technology Transfer (FuT) at TU Ilmenau, believes that the skills taught in the Entrepreneurial Skills certificate are future-oriented:

Entrepreneurial Skills are Future Skills for professional life, which are not only applicable when founding a start-up. In the courses, participants learn, among other things, how to work in interdisciplinary teams, problem-solving techniques or how to find entrepreneurial opportunities.

Prof. Jens Müller, Vice President for International Affairs and Transfer at TU Ilmenau, sees the Entrepreneurial Skills certificate as having the potential to further sensitize students and employees to the topic of entrepreneurship and to sharpen their skills:

The Entrepreneurial Skills certificate bundles TU Ilmenau's wide range of courses related to entrepreneurship and soft skills. Students who complete it have a real competitive advantage when they start their careers.

Student Tino Leandro Albrecht feels that his participation in the courses has prepared him well for professional life. He can now develop business models in the Business Model Canvas, work out solutions to complex problems, manage projects, present ideas and concepts better or calculate the break-even point of a company.

With the certificate, I have not only achieved my original goal of improving my communication skills, but also gained in-depth knowledge related to entrepreneurship. I can now apply these in various situations.
