Congratulations for the very successful defence of the master thesis to Cedric Kahnes. Cedric studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Ilmenau and developed a numerical model for a thermal energy storage, a key component of a Carnot battery, under the guidance of Clemens Naumann. He could show important dependencies of the energetic and exergetic efficiency on geometric design parameters. His results will be useful for future developments within the DFG Priority Programme “Carnot Batteries: Inverse Design from Markets to Molecules” (https://www.uni-due.de/spp2403/) and shows how mechanical engineering helps to shape a sustainable future energy supply system.
