The week before last, our colleague Sebastian Sachs attended the 14th International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena (TSFP14) in Heidelberg, where he presented our latest research on “Event-based Lagrangian particle tracking for turbulent shear flows”.

In this work, we demonstrated how 3D event-based particle tracking can be applied to investigate the turbulent pipe flow at Laboratorio CICLoPE. By resolving the particle motion directly within the viscous sublayer, we were able to derive statistics of the turbulent wall shear stress distribution and capture key characteristics of the near-wall flow. The particle trajectories were obtained using STELLA, our recently published open source framework for processing particle-tracking data from event-based cameras: https://lnkd.in/ePKue4r6
