New Research on Merger Control in Dynamic Markets

Peer-reviewed Publication in World Competition

Oliver Budzinski (Economic Theory Group, TU Ilmenau) published a new research paper in the newest issue of the international peer-reviewed journal World Competition: Law and Economics Review. In cooperation with Frédéric Marty and Patrice Bougette (both Université Côte d’Azur, France), the question of dynamic effects on behavioral merger remedies is addressed. Merger remedies seek to modify a mergers and acquisitions-project in a way that anticompetitive concerns are resolved. However, since the effects of such remedies lie in the future, specifically dynamic markets provide considerable challenges for issuing effective behavioral remedies. This research pinpoints the shortcomings of the current practice and highlights novel ways to improve remedies.
