Welcome to the information page for the Master's Qualification Exam for the master course in Media Engineering Sciences at Technische Universität Ilmenau. The goal of the examination is to ensure minimum qualifications and prerequisites for the master's degree program being pursued.

The written online test is intended for those applicants who have not achieved the minimum score of 70 points for the decision "Special admission requirements present" in the subject-specific master's suitability review, but have achieved at least 50 points in the preliminary review. 

 

The online written test will take place on a Moodle page. The link to this Moodle is:

Master Research in Media Engineering Qualification Test

This you have to do now:

  • create a new account or use an already existing account of the "Virtueller Campus Thüringen"
  • use your name and email address, which you also use for the registration at the TU Ilmenau (if you have a different name and/or e-mail address, you will not be able to take part in the test)
  • after the account creation and log in, send an email to qualifying-exam-ming@tu-ilmenau.de with your name and email address used for the account (You will then be enrolled in the Moodle course!)
     

Further information:

  • Duration of the test is 90 minutes
  • The test questions are in english
  • The applicants will dial into a Webex room parallel to the test, so that the supervisor of the test can see the participants during the test.
  • Applicants will also be asked to make a declaration in advance that they will take the test on their own (upload written confirmation).
  • Upon request, the answers will be made available for consultation.
  • The test is offered on four dates per year: End-April / End-July (reference to application period WS G3: 16.01.-15.05.) and End-October / End-January (reference to the application period SoSe G3: 16.07.-15.11.)
  • Applicants can cancel their registration and attend the next appointment if they wish, provided that another appointment is offered during the current application phase. If this is not the case, the application will be rejected.
  • Literature and sample assignments will be provided for individual preparation. 
 

The test consists of the areas "mathematical basics" (7 questions), "basic knowledge from media technology areas" (28 questions), "scientific work" (5 questions).

The candidate receives one point per task if the answer is correct. A maximum of 40 points can be achieved. The test is passed if at least half of the questions from each of the three blocks have been answered correctly (= 20 points).
