Research overview
The Department of Applied Nano-Physics is located in the Ilmenau University of Technology. The mission of our department is to develop template-assist nanotechnology and cost-effective process that would realize diversely functional three-dimensional (3D) nanostructures and surface nanopatterns. Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) and polystyrene (PS) are the main methods used in the art of the realization of 3D functional nanostructures.
Our current focus is directed towards the fabrication of 3D nanoarchitectured devices for the applications of sodium ion batteries, supercapacitors, solar water splitting, and surface plasmon resonance. Correspondingly suitable simulations are used to achieve better understandings of the new phenomena and mechanisms in order to optimize the properties of nano-devices. We are also interested in other applications, including gas sensor, photocatalysis, and optoelectronic devices.
