AEFM 2024

Combination of advanced electrochemical energy technology and functional materials is crucial for innovation, which is driven by a steadfast commitment to addressing global demand for sustainable energy solutions. It encompasses a diverse array of research endeavors, ranging from optimizing energy conversion and storage technologies by developing novel functional materials with unique properties. In recent years, tremendous effort and resources have been put into conducting research in materials for new energy technologies and materials that could enable new technologies. This is a highly interdisciplinary and rapidly changing field that is full of opportunities and challenges. Therefore, it is crucial to create the opportunities for scientists in this field to share the latest breakthroughs, generate new ideas, and promote in-depth collaborations, eventually boosting future research and development in this field.

The 1^st International Conference of Advanced Energy and Functional Materials Research (AEFM 2024) is dedicated to provide a platform for scientists to share insights on critical and challenging issues in energy and functional materials research, which shall be helpful to promote future collaborations of research groups and institutions in Europe as well as in other countries, toward realizing secure, competitive, and sustainable energy technologies through collaborative efforts. This conference is organized by the Department of Applied Nano-Physics at the Technical University of Ilmenau, in collaborative partnership with Wiley scientific journals (Advanced Energy Materials, Small, Energy & Environmental Materials, Carbon Energy, etc.). Our motivation is to bring together leading scientists and researchers around world in the fields of advanced energy and functional materials research to exchange information on their latest research progress and innovation.

The main topics of the conference include (but not limited to):

• Energy storage devices such as batteries (metal-ion batteries, metal-air batteries, metal-sulfur batteries, etc.) and supercapacitors;

• Energy conversion materials such as photo-/electro-catalysis, photovoltaics, and fuel cells;

• Exploration of innovative functional materials and technologiesby illustrating the properties of materials and reactions mechanism at the nanoscale, such as nanophotonics and nanomagnetics.

Two special issues (Advanced Energy Materials and Small) of publications are in the planning now, mainly based on the contributions to the conference. We are looking forward to your contributions to these special issues.

The deadline of registration is Sept. 20, 2024. Talks and posters are all welcome (there will be a few sessions for young scientists and students). There is no conference registration fee, which means your attendance is free.
