With the research in this project we want to lower the threshold which obviously still keeps tunable Alvarez-Lohmann optics from entering real world applications. To this end we address some of the most important remaining issues such as:

- optical systems engineering with Alvarez-Lohmann elements based on analytic modelling

- optimized fabrication for generalized optical wavefront synthesizer

- innovative tuning strategies

- application specific design and systems integration of tunable optical functionality.
