With the aim of providing all citizens with a central point of contact where they can find a competent point of contact across the wide range of tasks and areas covered by police work, a police advice centre has been set up at the Gotha Regional Police Headquarters.
In addition to raising awareness of current crime trends through talks and advisory services, a special service is available. Anyone can make use of a personalised burglary prevention consultation. Information on the options for mechanical and electronic security measures for residential and commercial premises is available free of charge and impartially in two formats. On the one hand, flat owners can seek advice directly at the Gotha Regional Police Inspectorate’s showrooms; on the other hand, homeowners and business owners can receive advice on site in the mobile advice unit.
In his talk, Marco Kormann, who runs the LPI Gotha Police Advice Centre, provides information on typical forms of fraud and theft that can particularly affect older people. The talk covers risks over the telephone, at the front door, whilst out and about, and online. Using clear examples, the presentation explains how perpetrators operate and which everyday situations are particularly vulnerable.
Participants will receive specific, easy-to-follow advice on how to recognise dangers at an early stage and respond appropriately. The session will also highlight ways to boost one’s sense of security and take the right action in an emergency.
