The Department of Economic Sciences and Media is dedicated to research and teaching on the basics, mechanisms and control instruments of a digital economy and society. The focus is on the theoretical and empirical examination of economic processes and structures, of communication processes in a dynamic media landscape and of relevant legal relationships, against the background of a complex, changeable technological environment. We face the questions of a "digital economy" and "media society" together - with modern economic and social science research and teaching, with close practical relevance and technological orientation.
The research of the Department of Business Administration, Economics and Media covers three core topics:
The department’s strategic research initiatives focus on Computational Social Sciences: Economy, Media and Social Systems, addressing aspects of the modern digitized economy and society from an interdisciplinary perspective.
We offer students a sound education in economics and social sciences with close links to technical sciences and computer science, as well as a comprehensive practice-oriented education in the fields of media and communication studies, media management, business informatics and industrial engineering. We attach great importance to high-quality, internationally oriented teaching, including English-language courses and degree programmes.
