Whether in the introductory week, modern study rooms or practical laboratories - here you will find everything you need for a successful course of study.

At TU Ilmenau, you will not only be prepared for the future - you will actively help shape it!

Curious? With more than 40 Bachelor's and Master's programs, we offer you a wide selection of future and sustainability-oriented degree courses in engineering, computer science, business, media and communication as well as mathematics and natural sciences.

"The TU Ilmenau has really good laboratories. For example, I work in the clean room, including with the scanning electron microscope. You can take pictures on the nanoscale."

Marta, Materials Science

"I want to know how energy distribution works and what new technologies are available. These are topics where there is a lot of demand, but also great research here at the university."

Carsten, Electrical Engineering

"For us, it's about finding out the background. Why can you use the calculation, why does it work like this? It's a lot of proofs, a lot of logic, thinking and puzzling."

Lea, Mathematics

Expand your knowledge

Learning world - Flexible space for effective learning

The Lernwelt is a modern, multifunctional teaching and learning space that offers optimal conditions for various learning formats. Whether concentrated individual work, learning in small groups or interactive and project-oriented teaching and learning formats.

The combination of quiet work areas, group work zones and modern teaching concepts makes the learning world the ideal place for productive and innovative studies.

Lectures - knowledge transfer by experts

A lecture is a central course of study in which professors or lecturers impart their specialist knowledge. Usually in the form of a lecture, lectures offer a structured introduction to central topics of a degree program.

Students are given a sound theoretical basis here, which is further deepened in seminars and exercises. Learning is supported by modern teaching methods, accompanying digital materials and interactive elements.

Seminars & laboratory practicals - consolidation and application

Seminars and laboratory practicals offer an intensive examination of the theoretical principles from the lectures. In seminars, theoretical content is deepened and applied to practical issues. Laboratory practicals make it possible to carry out experiments and try out technical solutions directly.

In the laboratory practicals, students work with modern technology and real research projects. In this way, specialist knowledge, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are optimally developed.

You can expand your in-depth theoretical knowledge after your Bachelor's degree in one of the 27 Master's degree programs. These are allresearch-oriented and interdisciplinary and offer interesting specializations.
