Exam Office
Studying on a degree course whose examination and study regulations provide for participation in a double degree program enables students to obtain the desired academic degree at two universities.
This is made possible by the coordination of the curricula content and the mutual recognition of examinations by the participating universities. After completing the degree course at one university, the student continues his studies at the partner university and obtains the degree from this university as a second degree.
Student Office
In the case of double studies, you are enroled in at least two degree programs at the same university and time.
This is the case, for example, when you provisionally enrol on a Master degree program during the university-internal transition from Bachelor to Master. Until the end of the semester in which you are provisionally enroled in the Master degree program, you will study twice in two degree programs.
Responsible : Student Office
The prerequisite for participation in study is the enrolment of the prospective student in the university student administration system. Upon enrolment, the prospective student is linked to a specific study program. Prospective students can choose between study programs leading to a certificate, Bachelor, Master or PhD.
Certificate
Prospective students from abroad with a language-related admission to study at TUIL can be enroled in the Academic Preparation Course leading to a certificate. In the case of first-time enrolment, those interested in study preparation are simultaneously registered at the university and thus become collegiats with all rights and obligations.

Each prospective student gets in contact with a public health insurance company immediately before enroling as student in a degree program (degree studies). This is required even if health insurance already exists with a private provider.
The public health insurance company checks the current insured status of the prospective student on an individual basis and reports the result of the check to the university via the electronic reporting procedure of the public health insurance companies.
Technically, reporting is done from the health insurance company IT system using a special data format via an electronic interface directly into the university's student administration system. No paper or PDF documents are transmitted.
A new electronic report by the public health insurance company initiated by the student may also be required during the course of studies in the degree program (subject studies).

Since January 1, 2018, the regulations of the Maternity Protection Act MuSchG also apply to pregnant students. To ensure that the maternity protection regulations can be observed on the part of TU Ilmenau, pregnant students should inform the Academic Services Center (ASC) about their pregnancy. This is done voluntarily. However, it is recommended, because only then the protection rights of the MuSchG take effect.
Studying can pose risks to the health of the expectant mother and to her unborn child; e.g. during exercises and internships or during the practical semester. For students who wish to continue their studies during pregnancy, after childbirth and/or while breastfeeding, the university must therefore prepare a risk assessment.

Exam Office
The staff at the Exam Office handle all examination administration processes, from registering for examinations, creating examination lists and recording grades in the examination administration system up to printing certificates and diplomas upon successful completion of the degree program.
The online examination administration portal offers self-service functions for students to register and deregister for examinations and to provide certificates, e.g. grade overviews and examination registration confirmations.
Exam Office
By enroling in a degree program, students acquire the right to take examinations in their degree program.
This entitlement to take examinations in the enroled degree program is lost as soon as the student finally fails an examination from the curriculum of his degree program.
This is referred to as the loss of the exam entitlement in this degree program. This means that the study objective, i.e. graduation from the chosen degree program, can no longer be achieved.
Exam Office
In the event of a student dropping out without completing his chosen degree program, the Exam Office will issue an exam entitlement certificate for the student dropping out.
This shows whether the exam entitlement in the relevant degree program still exists or has been lost, e.g. due to the final failure of an examination.
Exam Office
All examinations specified in the curricula of the degree programs (see study and examination regulations of the degree program) are generally offered during the examination period of each semester.
The dates of scheduled examinations (usually written examinations) are announced semester by semester in the course catalog Open Timetable.
Non-scheduled examinations, so-called examinations by arrangement, are announced in a PDF document on a semester-by-semester basis. Please arrange an examination date yourself with the examiner.
Student Office
The examination and study regulations of each degree program include a curriculum of study. The number of semesters specified therein for complete study of the degree program in attendance constitutes the standard period of study for this degree program. The standard period of study is thus related to the study program and is specified in semesters.
Student Office
By re-registering, you inform the university that you will continue your studies in the following semester.
The re-registration refers to the registration at the University regardless of whether you will continue your studies in your currently enroled program or in another program at the University.
At the same time, you secure your status as a student or collegiate.
Student Office
The semester contribution is a compulsory, solidarity-based levy that is charged at all universities throughout Germany in varying amounts. Before each semester, the respective university collects the contribution on behalf of the payees for the Studierendenwerk and the Student Council. Payment of the semester contribution is a prerequisite for enrolment at the university and for re-registration each semester.
Vice President for Studies and Teaching
The course of each semester is determined by calendar key points defined in advance.

The student ID card with the current semester-related imprint, e.g.
is valid as a ticket in conjunction with a valid official identity document with a photograph and, for foreign students, in conjunction with a valid international student ID card for local trains operated by selected companies in the Free State of Thuringia (see conditions of carriage) on selected routes (see route network).
Both documents are part of the contract concluded between Studierendenwerk Thüringen and Deutsche Bahn. The Studierendenwerk Thüringen is responsible for providing and updating the documents.
Please note that unauthorized changes to the entries on the student ID card make it invalid as a ticket. Students will then be treated as passengers without a valid ticket. Unauthorized changes include laminated, cut, glued or overwritten student ID cards.
Certificates of enrolment are not recognized as tickets.
Responsible: Admission Office, Student Office

Alternatively, you would like to be deroled from a study program without a degree and enroled in another study program.
Before and after the change of study program, you are only enroled in one study program.
The completion of a change of study program within the university requires the existence of a valid admission letter for the target program.
Exam Office
The examination and study regulations of a degree program contain the curriculum of the degree program.
All courses (lectures, tutorials, seminars, internships) are listed with their semester location (WiSe or SoSe) and their number of hours (SWS - semester hours per week).
The curriculum is a recommendation for the course of study. Compliance with this recommendation enables students to complete the degree program within the standard period of study.
An electronic overview of the curricula of all degree programs offered by the university can be found under the following link.

The Student Office also provides certificates in the Campus Portal, e.g. for enrolment and de-registration, for the course of studies or for leave of absence.
Student Office
Working students or students with special obligations or in special study periods will be admitted as part-time students upon request.
Semesters in part-time study are counted as full university semesters, but generally as half degree program semesters, regardless of the periods of study specified in the curriculum of the study program. Part-time students have the same membership status as full-time students.
Exam Office
In the event of a student dropping out without completing his chosen degree program, the Exam Office will issue a clearance certificate for the student dropping out.
This shows whether the exam entitlement in the relevant degree program still exists or has been lost, e.g. due to the final failure of an examination.
Student Office
For its own Bachelor students, the University offers provisional enrolment in the Master degree program under certain conditions in addition to the change of study program when transitioning from the Bachelor to the Master degree program.
