Besides studying, physical balance should not be neglected. There is a central place to go for this at the Technical University of Ilmenau - the University Sports Center. From Asian martial arts to volleyball, everyone can keep fit here in their own way. Besides the campus sports hall with a climbing wall, there are also outdoor facilities, e.g. for beach volleyball, tennis and athletics. More than 80 sports can be trained individually or in clubs.
Frisbee is not only a sport for the city park and the beach. Ultimate Frisbee is the ideal fusion of well-known team sports with elements of American football, basketball, handball and volleyball. The fairest team sport in the world is played with the rotating disc. Whether you are a newcomer or switching from another team sport, Ultimate Frisbee is a great addition.
Ice hockey has an almost 100-year-old tradition at the winter sports resort Ilmenau! The Kickelhahn Rangers offer sports activities for amateur ice hockey players and students. Since 2006 they have been working hard to train young ice hockey players. Meanwhile, in addition to the adult training groups, there are also several junior training groups on the ice in point play. The performance-oriented competition team of the "Kickelhahn-Rangers" competes in the "Thüringenliga" (Landesliga Thüringen), wants to establish itself there and beyond and plays its home games in the Ilmenau ice rink.
The diving sport association is a non-profit recognized association and is a member of the Landestauchsportverband Thüringen (LTVT) as well as the Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher (VDST). The aim is to promote recreational diving, especially for students of the Technical University of Ilmenau and for children and young people. Under the professional guidance of our trainers and instructors, everyone can receive a sound basic training in the basic levels according to the VDST-DTSA regulations within the framework of the training times and courses offered.
