UNIKAT - the student workshop

UNIKAT is the student workshop at TU Ilmenau. Here, you have the opportunity to bring your projects to life—whether they are for university, your thesis, a personal project, or a gift. Just drop by and get started; our team is on hand to assist you during our OpenLab sessions.

Our workshop is fully equipped with virtually everything you need. Once you’ve received a brief orientation from our mentors, you can work on your projects independently.

Using all our equipment is FREE! You simply need to bring (or pay for) your own materials.

 

Just moved in and need a power drill or similar tools? You can also borrow equipment from us for free (proof of university affiliation required).

You can simply drop by our OpenLabs without registering to work on your ideas, get to know our workshop, or just talk shop with our team.

FabLab/Ilmkubatorlab

OPEN Labs take place at the Ilmkubator FabLab in Kirchhoffbau K1087 at the following times:

  • Tuesday, 9:00 – 12:00 and 17:00 - 19:00

If your room is too small, come along!

All options are open to you at the OPEN Lab. Realize your own projects while the UNIKAT team is there to help and advise you.

Of course, you can also work on one of our numerous kits. From LED cubes to wooden toys, we have a large selection on site. If you need a specific piece of equipment to complete your project elsewhere, we will of course be happy to lend it to you.
