Want more practical experience? With practicING, you can expand your engineering studies with new perspectives. Discover practical additional offerings, work in an interdisciplinary manner, and learn how your studies interact with other disciplines. 

Supported by teachers and student tutors, you will gain valuable experience beyond the lecture hall.

The "orientation program" at TU Ilmenau accompanies you through the first semesters of your Bachelor's degree.
You will work on projects in small teams, get to know companies and gain practical experience early on - together with students from other disciplines. Discover how engineers think and work - interdisciplinary, practical and with personal support.

Procedure and application

1. who can take part?

practicING is aimed at all engineering students - especially from the study programs:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Electrical engineering and information technology
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Computer engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Industrial engineering

Inquiring minds from other disciplines are also very welcome.

Please provide the following information:

  • Last name, first name and degree program

3. application

The details to the registration will be discussed in a short personal meeting.

It pays to be quick, places are are limited.

4. projects & participation

Depending on the project, you can expect different processing times, practical tasks and interdisciplinary teamwork - accompanied by lecturers and student tutors.

5th degree

At the end of your practicING-project, you will present your results to the other students and lecturers at the final event. After successful participation, you will receive a certificate and take away valuable practical experience for your studies and career.
