The lecture provides an insight into the physical and technical principles of the industrial use of nuclear fission. Established and modern reactor concepts will be presented and their risks and opportunities discussed. In addition to technical aspects, an overview of socially discussed topics of nuclear technology will be given. The aim of the lecture is to give the audience a basic understanding of the processes in the nuclear fission reactor and the opportunity to participate in discussions on the relevant topics with fact-based knowledge.
Speaker Dipl.-Ing. Sebastian Hübner studied Mechanical Engineering at the TU Dresden. There he was an academic staff member at the professorship for hydrogen and nuclear energy technology. Dipl.-Ing. Hübner is an advisor to the Vice President for Teaching and Learning at TU Ilmenau and deputy contact person for the Ilmenau regional group of Engineers Without Borders.
