For many people, having an operation is a major step – full of questions and uncertainty, but also full of hope.
In this presentation, I would like to explain how we work: hand in hand with a surgical robot, and how we have successfully integrated it into our team. It does not replace any of us; state-of-the-art technology is simply used as an additional tool in the operating theatre in Arnstadt. The Da Vinci robot is a quiet, precise assistant, guided by experienced doctors with great dexterity. The human staff contribute their experience and empathy, whilst the robot provides a steady, tremour-free hand. Together, we do everything we can to ensure you receive the best possible care, as modern technology in the operating theatre helps us to make operations gentler and safer. As an anaesthetist, I will explain which operations our ‘new colleague’ can be used for and how we have successfully integrated it into our team. You will learn which operations the robot is used for and what this means for you as a patient. I will tell you about the challenges we faced during the introductory phase, how we trained our team, and what safety standards are in place today.
The talk is aimed at anyone with an interest in the subject and provides accessible insights into the medicine of tomorrow.
