The TGZ has existed next to the campus of the TU Ilmenau since 1991 with the aim of strengthening the innovative power of the regional economy and creating new, future-oriented jobs. A project that can only succeed with clever minds who want to make more out of their ideas and with a network of committed partners.
In terms of content, this involves more than just renting out premises, starting with enthusiasm for technology and entrepreneurship, a contact point for people interested in setting up a business in the region and support from the initial idea to a successful company. One of the greatest added values, which is often overlooked, is the community of young, innovative and technology-oriented companies in the center and the exchange with the business and scientific community. Implementing this together with partners and filling it with life is the basis for the center's successful work.
The lecture provides an insight into the work and activities of the start-up center in Ilmenau for more than 35 years and deals with the questions of what added value is created for Ilmenau and how the center can continue to contribute to the successful economic development of the region in the future.
Rüdiger Horn has been Managing Director of Technologie- und Gründerzentrum Ilmenau GmbH since July 2015. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from the TU Ilmenau, he initially worked as a scientist in the field of vehicle technology, before becoming technical coordinator of the Thuringian Innovation Center for Mobility at TU Ilmenau before joining TGZ Ilmenau in summer 2015.
