Medicines play an important role in the treatment and prevention of illnesses and are part of many people’s daily lives. To ensure they work effectively, it is crucial that they are used correctly. In practice, however, there is often uncertainty about how to handle medicines – for example, regarding when to take them, the correct dosage or the combination of different preparations.
This talk aims to provide an overview of the fundamental aspects of the safe use of medicines. It explains why taking medicines at the correct time and following the instructions for use are important, and outlines the general rules for handling medicines. It will also address typical everyday questions, such as whether to take medicines with or without food, how to combine them with other medicines, and how to store them correctly at home or whilst travelling.
The aim of the talk is to provide a better understanding of the safe use of medicines and to raise awareness that even simple basic rules can make an important contribution to the effectiveness and safety of treatment. The lecture is aimed at anyone interested in refreshing their knowledge of how to handle medicines and gaining greater confidence in their day-to-day use.
