Turning smart ideas into technical concepts is the core of engineering. But how can the transformation to a modern society that thinks and acts sustainably succeed? Under the motto "transformING", the Thuringian Alliance for Engineering Sciences invites all interested parties to the Engineering Day at Bauhaus University Weimar on June 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..Innovative projects from the fields of research, teaching and transfer will be presented.

In addition to greetings from Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes, interim director of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, and Burkard Zinner, Thuringian Ministry for Economy, Science and Digital Society, 21 speakers will shed light on the role of engineering sciences as a driving force for the future. The focus will be on new technologies such as 360° applications, virtual product development and artificial intelligence, as well as sustainable solutions in the fields of building materials, energy, transport and the environment. Among others, the "Bauhaus.MobilityLab" and the "Thuringian Innovation Center Mobility" (ThIMo) will present themselves, students will report on their participation in the UN Climate Change Conference 2021 in Glasgow and researchers will present future visions for neighborhoods and cities.

About the event

Whether it's climate protection, digitization or the success of the energy transition: against the backdrop of social and technological upheavals, the engineering sciences have a special significance. Engineers research and develop new materials, processes and products, work in an interdisciplinary manner and actively help shape Thuringia as a location for business and knowledge. Thuringia's universities are the linchpin for technological innovations and provide interested guests with an insight into current topics and projects at the "Engineering Day". The event takes place annually at changing locations and was held for the first time in 2021 at the TU Ilmenau.

Due to the Corona pandemic, the number of participants on site on June 29, 2022 is limited, so prior registration is requested. For all interested parties who cannot come to Weimar, the event will be streamed live via Vimeo.

  • Postervoting is possible online in the period from 23.06. 12.00 - 29.06. 12.00 and will be available including an online gallery via this page: http://www.uni-weimar.de/postercontest
  • Voting for the Elevator Pitch (unfortunately without Ilmenau participation) will then also take place online via this site on 29.06. in the time slot from approx. 16.30-16.45.
  • The Elevator Pitch and the subsequent awards for the best posters and pitches will then take place live on June 29 from around 3.30 p.m. in the library's Audimax or via online streaming at https://www.uni-weimar.de/de/universitaet/aktuell/tag-der-ingenieurwissenschaften

The idea of the alliance

The Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences was founded in April 2019. The goal is to provide the seven participating partner universities with a forum for increased cooperation and joint strategy development in research, teaching and transfer. Another focus is on the promotion of young talents. For more information, visit the alliance's website: www.allianz-thuering.de
