It is a tradition for the new students of the TU Ilmenau to hike up the most famous mountain of Ilmenau during the ErstiWoche. The Kickelhahn will watch over you throughout your studies, so you should have climbed it at least once. Even the old Goethe knew to appreciate the breathtaking view from 861m height. Inspired by the view of the sleepy little town on the edge of the Thuringian Forest, he wrote the famous poem "Wanderers Nachtlied" in Goethe's cottage on the Kickelhahn.
By the end of their studies at the Technical University, every student should have climbed the famous Ilmenau Kickelhahn at least once. Because if you believe the student myths, you won't finish your studies here successfully - and that would be a pity.
That's why we will hike up the Kickelhahn with you on Saturday to avert disaster. Your tutor will tell you in time at which time you will start.
As a reward you will get the first certificate of your young student life, music from the student radio station hsf and of course a lot of fun on the ascent.
So put on your hiking boots and windproof clothes and let's go! Don't forget your Ersti badge.
