Exhibition “Together Against Sexism” | November 17–December 14

In cooperation with all Thuringian universities and the city of Ilmenau, we are presenting the exhibition "Together against sexism"from 17.11. to 14.12.2025 .

At the Ilmenau site, it will be on display in German at the Women's and Family Center and in English at the University Library (Leibniz Building).

The exhibition addresses everyday forms of discrimination or degradation based on gender and shows ways in which we can work together to promote a respectful and equal university culture.

Because even if universities as places of science struggle with this topic, there is just as much or as little sexual harassment and discrimination at universities as there is in society as a whole. There is also a particular vulnerability in the university context, as there are special relationships of dependency both during studies and in the qualification phase. This can be caused, for example, by the identity of supervisor, examiner and superior functions.

We are pleased to invite you to an opening lecture on the topic of sexism in the university context as part of the official opening of our exhibition:

The lecture entitled "What men are never asked" will be given by Dr.-Ing. Katja Tonisch (Equal Opportunities Officer at TU Ilmenau). Following the opening and the lecture, we cordially invite you to a tour of the exhibition and a small reception.
