The Association of Friends and Sponsors of Natural Sciences in Ilmenau e.V. and the Institute of Physics at TU Ilmenau are organizing the popular science lecture series "Quantum in Ilmenau" to mark the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics.

The lecture series will be continued by Professor Thomas Hannappel, Head of the Group of Fundamentals of Energy Materials, who will speak on the topic of "Solar Energy - From Planck Spectrum to Tandem Cells".

The lecture describes the development of solar energy utilization - from simple silicon cells to tandem cells with world record efficiencies to innovative concepts such as artificial leaves, which are already significantly more efficient than their natural counterparts.

Further lectures in the event series:

24.06.2025 - Prof. Dr. Siegfried Stapf: Nuclear magnetic resonance

08.07.2025 - Prof. Dr. Stefan Krischok: Photoelectric effect

The lectures take place on Tuesdays at 5:15 pm in the Faraday lecture hall of the TU Ilmenau (Weimarer Straße 32, new building, access via Prof.-Schmidt-Straße).

Admission to all events is free. All interested parties are welcome.
