The Association of Friends and Sponsors of Natural Sciences in Ilmenau e.V. and the Institute of Physics at TU Ilmenau are organizing the popular science lecture series "Quantum in Ilmenau" to mark the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics.
The lecture series will be continued by Professor Stefan Krischok, Head of the Group of Technical Physics I, who will speak on the topic "The photoelectric effect 120 years after Einstein's wonderful year".
Following its quantum mechanical justification by Albert Einstein in 1905, the photoelectric effect is still of great importance - not only in solar cells and photodetectors, but also for material and surface physics. For the latter, Professor Krischok will present some current applications of X-ray and UV-induced photoelectron spectroscopy in his field in his lecture.
Admission to the event is free. All interested parties are welcome.
