Funding conditions project 2024

Requirements

Participants

  • Students enrolled in a full course of study at one of the Thuringian universities (from the first semester)
  • Graduates in the first 12 months after graduation (application must be received before the end of the studies!)
  • Doctoral students enrolled at one of the Thuringian universities

Traineeships

  • Eligible: full-time traineeships in enterprises, social institutions, NGOs, universities, etc.
  • Not eligible: in EU institutionsand other EU bodies, including specialised agencies; in bodiesmanaging EU programmes.

Duration of funding

  • Long Term:
    2 to 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral)
    2x 2 to 12 months for single-track programs (e.g. State Examination, Diploma)
  • Short Term:
    Blended Mobility up to 1 month traineeship in presence and additional virtual phase (in Germany).
    PhD mobility up to 1 month for immatriculated doctoral students

Application deadline

  • 2 months before the start of the traineeship!
    Long-term planning is recommended.
  • For traineeships after graduation, the application needs to be submitted before the end of your studies!

Financial support

  • One traineeship per study cycle (Bachelor/ Master/ Doctorate) is financially supported. Two traineeships are financially supported per study cycle (diploma/ state examination). Financial support is provided up to a maximum of
  • 120 days in programme countries
    90 days in partner countries
    60 days with an income of EUR 2,000 or more (internship salary, scholarship)
  • Periods exceeding this are not financially supported (Zero Grant), but are covered by the Erasmus contract.
  • Further traineeships within a study cycle can be carried out as Zero Grant mobility, i.e. they receive an Erasmus contract without financial support.

These funding rates apply to Erasmus+ mobilities with a funding commitment for a traineeship starting on or after 01.03.2025. Funding rates for earlier Erasmus+ projects (see below)

Long Term = 60 - 360 days of presence

Zero Grant:

  • Erasmus+ Program Countries: Financial support is possible up to a total duration of 4 months (120 days). Periods beyond this will not be financially supported (zero-grant).
  • Erasmus+ Partner Countries: Financial support is possible up to a total duration of 3 months (90 days). Periods beyond this are not financially supported (zero-grant).
  • In addition, the following also applies to multiple Erasmus+ traineeships: From the second Erasmus+ traineeship in the same study cycle (Bachelor/ Master/ Doctorate) no financial support is granted (zero-grant). From the third Erasmus+ internship in the same study cycle (diploma/ state examination), no financial support is granted (zero-grant).
  • In addition, the following applies to income from EUR 2,000 gross (internship salary, scholarships): Financial support is granted up to a total duration of 2 month (60 days). Periods longer than this are not financially supported (zero-grant).

Short Term - PhD students (up to 30 days presence)

  • a Short Term Blended Mobility should correspond to 3 ECTS
  • a Short Term Blended Mobility is possible if there is an obstacle to a Long Term Mobility

Travel allowance according to travel distance (standard travel/ green travel):

  • 10 und 99 KM (28 EUR/ 56 EUR)
  • 100 und 499 KM (211 EUR/ 285 EUR)
  • 500 und 1999 KM (309 EUR/ 417 EUR)
  • 2000 und 2999 KM (395 EUR/ 535 EUR)
  • 3000 und 3999 KM (580 EUR/ 785 EUR)
  • 4000 und 7999 KM (1.188 EUR/ 1.188 EUR)
  • 8000 KM oder mehr (1.735 EUR/ 1.735 EUR)
 

Students, especially those who are unable to participate in a Long Term Mobility due to personal, family, health or course-related circumstances, can combine a shorter physical mobility with a virtual component (Short Term Blended Mobility).

Obstacles to long-term mobility are, for example

  • disabilities
  • health problems
  • bbstacles related to education and training systems
  • cultural differences
  • social obstacles
  • economic barriers
  • barriers related to discrimination
  • geographical barriers
   

Additional funding

 

Erasmus participants who fulfill the conditions for additional funding in project 2023 | project 2024 | project 2025 can receive additional financial support. The relevant evidence will be requested in the application process. EU-Praktikum THÜRINGEN will be happy to advise you!

*Additional travel days (Green Travel)

Project 2024

  • In principle, Erasmus+ funding is not a full grant. Erasmus+ funding serves to cover additional costs related to your stay abroad, such as travel costs, which can be covered by this funding. However, as sustainable travel often leads to longer arrival/ departure times, there may be a further actual need for funding for participants traveling with sustainable means of transport.
  • Up to 6 additional travel day may be granted for low-emission traveling Erasmus+ participants who carry out most of their travel to/from the destination of traineeship institution by appropriate means of transport (such as bus, train or carpooling) (according to the European Commission's definition of Green Travel) NA DAAD
 

Project 2023

  • 50.00 EUR once + financial support for up to 4 additional travel days for low-emission traveling Erasmus+ participants

**Top-Up Fewer Opportunities

250,00 EUR per month for Long Term Mobilities

  • for participants with child(ren): Students or graduates who take one ore more child(ren) abroad during their Erasmus+ placement receive an additional DAAD grant. Proof: e.g. birth certificate
  • for participants with handicap: Students or graduates with a degree of disability of GdB 20 or more NA DAAD  Proof: certficate of the degree of disability
  • for participants with chronic disease: Students or graduates suffering from a chronic illness that results in additional costs abroad NA DAAD

The Top-Up Fewer Opportunities cannot be granted more than once. Therefore, you can choose one option if several criteria apply to you.

Real cost application

up to 15.000,00 EUR once

Depending on the financial need, it is also possible to apply for coverage of additional costs that incur. The financial support will be calculated according to personal needs and paid in addition to the regular Erasmus+ funding rate.
