Blended Intensive Programs (BIP)

The International Office is responsible for the administrative coordination of the program: contract coordination with partners, registration in the EU database, participation management, Erasmus documents for participants, pre-arrival and onboarding of guests, etc.

As a professor or member of staff, you will be responsible for coordinating and designing the content of the BIP: selection and consultation with participating partner institutions, definition of target group, subject area(s), content, date, duration, organization and invitation to virtual sessions, etc.

Examples:

• Staff Training Week for employees on the topic of marketing, 5 days in Ilmenau, one online session in advance and one session to follow up on the event
  BIP for students on the topic of “Sustainability Communication”, 5 days attendance in Ilmenau, 3 online sessions in advance and a feedback session as a follow-up, 3 ECTS

In addition to TU Ilmenau, at least two universities from two different Erasmus program countries (excluding the UK and Switzerland) participate.
A BIP takes place in cooperation with Erasmus+ partner universities, i.e. there must be Inter-Institutional Agreements (IIA) between TU Ilmenau and the universities in order for funding to be granted. If no IIA currently exists, this can be concluded in preparation for the BIP.

At least 12 people from the participating universities must take part in the BIP. Depending on the target group, these may be students and/or employees. There is also no upper limit on the number of participants.
Staff who take part in a BIP as lecturers do not count towards the number of participants.

The joint attendance phase at the TU Ilmenau should generally last 5 days. During this week, all participants from all universities involved in the BIP meet in Ilmenau. Teaching staff or employees of the partner universities can also join the students.

If an accompanying university lecturer teaches at TU Ilmenau during the BIP, this person does not count as a participant in terms of the required number of participants.

Virtual content (lectures, seminars, work meetings, teamwork, etc.) must be offered before, during and/or after the attendance phase. The duration and number of sessions is not specified.

All students receive at least 3 ECTS for participating in the BIP. Please note this requirement with regard to the planned scope of the course. According to the Examination and Study Regulations - General Provisions, the standardized workload at TU Ilmenau is 30 hours per ECTS (including self-study).

Incoming students from our partner universities create a digital Learning Agreement. This is coordinated by the International Office.

After successful participation, students and employees receive a corresponding certificate of achievement/participation. In accordance with TU Ilmenau's certificate regulations, this certificate (for less than 5 ECTS) is issued by the Central Institute for Education. The International Office is responsible for issuing and handing over the certificates.
