2–6 November – Open Days: Discover TU Ilmenau together

Students from Ilmenau Technical University in the AudimaxTU Ilmenau/Michael Reichel
From 2 to 6 November, upper secondary school pupils can spend a week getting a taste of university life at Ilmenau University of Technology

2–6 November – Open Days at Technische Universität Ilmenau. Sixth-form pupils can spend a week getting a taste of university life, exploring the laboratories and experiencing Ilmenau’s campus community. They will receive information on all the university’s degree programmes, tips for university life and personalised advice on any questions they may have. They will also have the opportunity to sit in on ‘real’ first-year lectures and put their practical skills to the test. Program and registration (by 21 October)

Which degree programme suits me best? How can I organise myself to study successfully? How can I help shape a sustainable future whilst still at university? How can I finance my studies? Shortly after the start of the winter term at TU Ilmenau, interested upper-sixth-form pupils will receive answers to all their questions. Staff from the Student Advisory Service and current students will be on hand to answer questions during lectures and practical sessions. Anyone wishing for a more personalised approach can arrange individual counselling appointments and laboratory tours when they register. Parents are also very welcome to accompany their children as they explore the possibility of studying at TU Ilmenau and to take part in counselling sessions together. Please let us know if this applies when you register.

For a whole week, pupils can feel just like ‘real’ students and experience the vibrant campus life first-hand. Depending on their interests, time available and journey, it is possible to take part on all days or just on individual days or at specific events. Information is available on all the university’s degree programmes: from engineering and computer science, through mathematics and natural sciences, to economics, media and communication. Through geocaching or campus tours led by students, pupils can explore the university grounds either on their own or in a group. There is also a guided tour of the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology.
