Last-minute Information Day: Just over a month before the start of the winter term, Technische Universität Ilmenau is offering prospective students the chance, on 28 August, to make a last-minute decision to study at the university. From 10 am to 2 pm, they will have the chance to find out everything about studying and life in Ilmenau through one-to-one discussions. Talks will provide detailed information about the degree programs, and guidedtours will give them the chance to explore the campus and the laboratories at TU Ilmenau.Applications for all Bachelor’s degree programs without an admission requirement can still be submitted until 15 September. Program and link to take part online:www.tu-ilmenau.de/lastminute
The Last-Minute Open Day begins at 10.00 am with a round-table discussion led by the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, Professor Anja Geigenmüller, together with the Students’ Council, the Student Health Management team and the International Office, covering studying, periods abroad and life in Ilmenau.
This will be followed, from 10.45 am to 11.30 am, by a focus on the range of degree programs offered by TU Ilmenau and the support services provided by the Thüringen Student Services Organisation. The event will showcase the degree programs and their interdisciplinary focus, the close link between study and research, and the wide range of opportunities to further develop one’s own interests and skills in research and practical projects whilst still a student. In addition, the Thuringia Student Services Organisation will provide information on its services to help students get off to a successful start in their studies.
From 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, representatives from the university, the Students’ Council and the Thuringia Student Services Organisation will be on hand in the foyer of the Humboldtbau, Gustav-Kirchhoff-Platz 1, to answer any questions regarding studies, orientation programs, applications and enrolment, accommodation and student finance.
Guided tours will allow those interested to get to know the campus and explore research centres and laboratories. The Last-Minute Information Day is also of interest to anyone who has already applied. Here, they can clarify any outstanding questions regarding their studies or the status of their application.
The TU Ilmenau is a small university with a distinctive campus atmosphere, intercultural diversity and a close-knit community. The high standard of education guarantees graduates excellent job prospects. Future-oriented subjects such as autonomous mobility, bio-inspired technology, networked communication and innovative energy concepts shape the range of degree programs on offer. From day one, students at Ilmenau are integrated into campus life, with tutors on hand to support first-year students. Students and lecturers maintain close contact and enjoy a personal relationship with one another; small group sizes enable seminars and practical placements to take place on campus. Numerous student societies offer students opportunities for personal development through a varied range of cultural and leisure activities, ensuring a vibrant campus life.
Anyone unable to attend the last-minute open day or who still has questions about their application after the event can also receive support during the week of 9 to 15 September: During an online consultation session for the final push before the application deadline, staff from the Central Student Advisory Service will answer individual questions regarding applications, enrolment and starting your degree. This means that prospective students can once again receive straightforward support with the final steps on their way to starting their degree, just before the enrolment deadline expires.
