Analysis system for concrete-damaging components receives award at the iENA 2025 inventors' fair

For their development, Dr. Galina Polte from the Department of Quality Assurance and Machine Vision together with Dr.-Ing. habil. Daniel Garten (GFE Schmalkalden e.V.), Dr.-Ing. Elske Linß (MFPA Weimar) and Dr.-Ing. habil. Katharina Anding (now Fraunhofer IDMT) were awarded the silver medal at the international inventors' fair iENA in Nuremberg.

The analysis system was developed in the joint project HyPetro "Automated real-time hyperspectral imaging and analysis for the detection of concrete-damaging components in aggregates". The core idea is the image-based hyperspectral detection of concrete-damaging components in aggregates for the primary raw materials industry through the development of an optical system for hyperspectral analysis and the development of innovative algorithms in the field of machine and deep learning. Intelligent hybrid detection routines using deep neural networks were developed in the department for this purpose.
