Prof. Dr. Martin Löffelholz and Prof. Dr. Andreas Will recently visited the Turkish-German University (TDU) in Istanbul to hand over responsibility for the English-language Master's program International Communication and Media Research (ICMR).

On October 1, 2024, Andreas Will took over the coordination of the course from Martin Löffelholz, who has supported the course in this role for many years. The coordination of the ICMR degree program is part of the DAAD-funded initiative to establish academic programs at TDU.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Rector of TDU, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, and the overall coordinator, Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, to discuss the future direction of the collaboration. A particularly important element of the visit was the detailed exchange with the management team of the ICMR program, Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya and Dr. Robin Kurilla, which focused on the future development of the program.

Another important aspect of the visit was the participation in the International Conference of the Department of Cultural and Social Sciences at TDU. At the conference, Prof. Löffelholz gave a talk on "Algorithms as Editors" and provided insights into how the rise of artificial intelligence is challenging journalism theory.

The visit reflects the close ties between TDU and TU Ilmenau and the ongoing efforts to promote high-quality, international education and research.
