At the proposal of the Institute Council of the cross-faculty I4MT on September 24, 2025, the President of TU Ilmenau appointed Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Broll as Director of the I4MT for a further three years with effect from October 1, 2025. Furthermore, Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Gunther Notni was appointed Deputy Director of the I4MT. Professor Notni succeeds Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Raake in this function.

Professor Wolfgang Broll, who succeeds Professor Raake, has also been appointed Director of the I3TC Technology Center, which is affiliated to the I4MT. Professor Gunther Notni takes over the position of Deputy Director of the I3TC.

Professor Alexander Raake was appointed to RWTH Aachen University in May 2025, where he now heads the Chair and Institute of Communications Engineering.
