Last week, students from energy systems and related disciplines at the TU Ilmenau had the opportunity to take part in the BDEW Treffpunkt Netze. The event started with an innovation workshop (Zukunftswerkstatt Energienetze) where the participants developed solutions for a sustainable energy future. Two of our students were part of the teams that won the Innovation Challenge.
The teams worked on (1) motivating consumers to choose sustainable products such as green steel via a loyalty points app that rewards verified green purchases and allows users to redeem or donate their points, and (2) Calmgrid, a non-monetary incentive concept for prosumers: distribution grid operators lend plug-and-play batteries with approx. 2 kWh home batteries with a simple display and install a common hallway screen during a demo phase to show how storage supports local grid stability. followed by optional instructions for those who want to buy their own system. Both teams then presented their ideas at the BDEW Treffpunkt Netze Forum. Congratulations to Ibrahim, Abdelrahman and their teams on this great success. Many thanks to the BDEW Young Talent Initiative for making the participation of four of our students possible. We look forward to the ongoing cooperation!
