"We sing together" - under this motto, a very special benefit concert will take place on May 16, 2025 from 7:30 pm in the Audimax of the TU Ilmenau: For the benefit of Ingenieure ohne Grenzen e.V., the project choir "Echoes of Change" will present a varied repertoire of secular, sacred and African choral music. The event is organized by the association Kulturelle Koordinierung (KuKo) e.V., which supports cultural life in the region from the TU Ilmenau. Admission to the concert begins at 7 pm. Admission is free - generous donations are welcome.
Echoes of Change is an association of around 50 dedicated singers from Ilmenau and the surrounding area under the musical direction of Markus Weyh, director of the Ilmenau music school choir "Querbeat", and Stefan Leistritz, director of the "DaChor" at Ilmenau University of Technology. It connects the city and university across generations, cultural backgrounds and institutions: students, teachers, citizens, experienced choir members and the curious.
The donations collected at the charity concert will benefit the national and international projects of Engineers Without Borders. Together with local partner organizations, the organization supports people in the Global South where technical cooperation is necessary and possible. Its work focuses on establishing a basic supply of water, electricity and sanitary facilities as well as building and expanding educational institutions.
There has also been a regional group of Engineers Without Borders in Ilmenau since 2013. In the group, which organizes the Repariertreff Ilmenau and supports projects abroad, students and employees of the TU Ilmenau as well as Ilmenau citizens work together to create a world in which all people have access to basic infrastructure. Carsten Gatermann, initiator of the concert and member of the regional group: "Come along, let yourself be touched - and help with your donation to give people all over the world access to basic infrastructure!"
