On 18 February 2025, our colleague Carsten Gatermann received the Best Master Thesis Award of the IEEE PES Germany Chapter for his excellent thesis entitled "Design of a method for the allocation of thermal resource reserves of HVDC cables for AC/DC system protection".
As part of his thesis, Mr. Gatermann dealt with the utilization of thermal reserves of HVDC cables for curative system management. The thesis was supervised by Mr. M. Sc. Franz Linke and Prof. Dirk Westermann.
We are delighted that Mr. Gatermann is continuing to pursue this interesting topic as part of his work in our department!
