Experience STEM subjects, find out about study options and get a taste of university life: from 11 to 16 October 2026, schoolgirls from Year 10 onwards can discover eight Thuringian universities on the CampusThüringenTour.
What study options are available in Thuringia? What is everyday student life like, and which STEM degree program suits your own interests and strengths? Schoolgirls will find answers to these and many other questions at this year’s CampusThüringenTour. During the Thuringian autumn half-term, 20 schoolgirls with an interest in science and technology will embark on a special study orientation trip through the Free State.
Under the motto ‘Young women successfully study STEM in Thuringia’, the participants will visit eight Thuringian universities over the course of a week: Technische Universität Ilmenau, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena, Bauhaus University Weimar, Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and the Gera-Eisenach Cooperative State University.
At each stop, the schoolgirls will get to know the universities and their various degree programs. Demonstrations, workshops, laboratory and campus tours, as well as student advisory services, provide practical insights into the world of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. A key feature of the tour is the direct interaction with students on site. They talk about their day-to-day student life, share their personal experiences and give the participants an authentic glimpse into life at a university.
The format is complemented by a varied program of events, which also focuses on the participants getting to know one another and exchanging ideas.
The CampusThüringenTour is a joint project – unique in Germany – involving eight Thuringian universities and will take place for the 19th time in 2026. The aim of the tour is to inspire girls and young women at an early stage to pursue a degree and a career in STEM subjects. At the same time, participants are given the opportunity to match their own interests and aspirations with specific degree programs, thereby gaining guidance for their individual choice of study.
