Collaborative research project launched with TU Chemnitz

Innovative fiber optic sensors for determining the wrist angle in human gesture recognition are being investigated in a new collaborative research project with Dr. Rim Barioul and Prof. Olfa Kanoun from the Chair of Measurement and Sensor Technology at TU Chemnitz. Here, the novel sensors based on fiber segment interferometry allow the integral measurement of wrist angle change over several centimeters, which enables simple, robust positioning of the sensor while maintaining very high sensitivity. Initial experiments in Chemnitz have already been successfully performed and will be presented at this year's Ilmenau Scientific Colloquium, September 4-8, 2023. More in-depth journal articles are planned below.
