On 23 and 24 February 2026, a delegation from the Embassy of Burundi, the Polytechnic University in Gitega and the University of Burundi visited TU Ilmenau. Part of the varied program was a visit to the DynaGrid Control Center in the Power Systems Group.
After a brief introduction to the main areas of research and how the control room simulator works, the guests from Burundi were able to take on the role of system operators themselves and carry out switching operations to stabilize the simulated grid with the help of an assistance function developed at the department. With the help of this assistance function and other functions that are being developed and investigated in current research projects at the Power Systems Group, our power grids can be operated more safely in the future.
