How can environmental conditions reduce stress for system operators in control centers? The students in the Energy Research and Innovation Methods 2 (EFI 2) module took on this design challenge in the summer semester of 2025.
Led by Prof. Dr. Reinhold Pabst and supported by industry partners, our students applied the design thinking method to build prototypes: a chatbot and messaging service as well as a new control center layout with adjustable environmental functions.
The results are innovative, human-centered solutions that can help future system operators manage stress while maintaining system security. Congratulations to our students for their creativity, teamwork and commitment to shaping a human-centered future for power system operations!
