DGPuK Conference of the Fachgruppe Medienökonomie in Mainz

@MedienökonomieJR
@Miriam Bernhard

The Media and Communicaiton Management research group was once again represented at this year's DGPuK conference of the Media Economics Section at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Under the heading "Everything rational? The human factor in media organizations", we took the opportunity in numerous exciting panels to take a look at decision-makers or content producers in media organizations, for example.

In this context, Miriam Bernhard gave two presentations entitled "Artificial intelligence in media management and journalism research - a scoping study" and "Let's learn about AI! Insights into the rational decision-making of media managers" provided insights into her latest research. In addition to the question of the extent to which current research in media management deals with the topic of AI, the extent to which media managers make their decisions on organizational learning processes in the field of AI rationally was also discussed.

Jonas Weber presented the latest results of a study he conducted in collaboration with Andreas Will and Christopher Buschow. Under the heading "How does media management orient itself? Adopting innovations from neighboring media markets using the example of journalism", it was discussed whether and in what form media platforms such as Netflix or Spotify are used in journalism as a reference for their own models.

In addition, Miriam Bernhard and Robin Riemann organized the PhD workshop of MedienökonomieJR as well as the new format "Pizza and Perspectives". Participating PhD students were able to benefit from the knowledge and experience of the respondents.

Congratulations go out to Christopher Buschow, who was re-elected as spokesperson for the specialist group and will represent it together with our former colleague Britta M. Gossel.

We would also like to thank the organization team of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz for the wonderful conference in Mainz. We are already looking forward to next year in Salzgitter.
