The energy transition and the fundamental restructuring of the energy supply system that it requires are introducing uncertainties into the system. Science, politics and society are looking for answers.
The scientific colloquium focused on questions of technical safety and how the media, society, business and politics are dealing with the new uncertainty. From the perspective of energy technology, we looked at the adaptation of protection concepts to ensure that the supply continues to function without endangering people and infrastructure, how grid stability can be guaranteed under conditions of fluctuating feed-in, how security of supply can be ensured every second, 365 days a year and how storage technologies and flexibilization can contribute to security of supply. We were able to see and hear an exciting presentation by Prof. Deerberg from Fraunhofer UMSICHT on the topic "Can carbon protect the climate?" and an interactive presentation by Mr. Thomas Bauer on the topic "Cybersecurity of critical infrastructures: actors, strategies and fields of action".
Mr. Daniel Först won the Best Poster Award for his poster on "Migro-Grid: Smart charging infrastructure in island operation". The award for the best pitch went to Mr. Hassan Alhomsi for his presentation "Forward to the energy transition with the right approaches".
