Opening of the Quantum Hub Thuringia

Quantum technologies have the potential to revolutionize most aspects of modern society. We are helping to shape this future! Together with FSU Jena, TU Ilmenau coordinates the "Quantum Hub Thuringia" consisting of 11 research institutions. On May 31, 2021, the Hub will be officially opened with a press event in Erfurt!

For all those interested, there will be a livestream starting at 1 pm!

Thesecond quantum revolution refers to technologies that use the properties of individual quantum objects macroscopically. The control of individual quantum objects enables developments and disruptive applications in data processing (quantum computing), communication (provably secure communication), and metrology (quantum imaging, quantum sensing). The resulting development is comparable to the scope of the introduction of microelectronics. The Quantum Hub Thuringia (QHubTh) is intended to shape this upcoming technological upheaval as a perspective for the future. By utilizing the strengths of industry and science in the Free State, important contributions can be made to this global transformation process. With quantum photonics, a new focus is being established in a highly innovative branch of industry that is aligned with the specific fields of excellence of Thuringian science as well as the SME-dominated structure and high innovativeness of Thuringia's economy.
