TU Ilmenau/Stefanie RexhäuserMr. Mehmet Murat Ispirli, research assistant at Marmara University Istanbul and PhD student at Istanbul Technical University, has been a guest at the Department of Lightning and Surge Protection for one year since February 2021. During his stay, the topic of his PhD research activity was on the discharge or breakdown behavior of air insulations of different electrode arrangements (sphere-sphere, rod-plate, tip-plate, needle-plate) under mixed voltage, i.e. under combined voltage stress (AC 50 Hz, DC, pulse, AC kHz) with different polarities and voltage magnitudes/ratios. Furthermore, he conducted fundamental investigations on future high voltage DC insulation systems and experimental research work in the diagnostic laboratory of the Thuringian Energy Research Institute. The results of the investigations are available in two OpenAccess papers of the university library. Supervision of Mr. Ispirli's research was provided by Prof. Michael Rock, Department of Lightning and Surge Protection, and M.Sc. Florian Seifert, Research Group High Voltage Technologies at the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering.
An Erasmus-Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) partnership is being planned to expand the relationship between TU Ilmenau/Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and Marmara University Istanbul/Technology Department Electrical-Electronic Engineering.
